CHICAGO PREMIERE
at Strawdog Theatre Company
Opened Saturday, January 13, 1996
“The Defiant production has just the right tone.”
Chicago Tribune
“It just becomes disgustingly irresistible.”
Gay Chicago Magazine
A post-modern cocktail of campy storytelling: one part fairy tale, one part TV rerun, garnished with plenty of blood. This Chicago premiere retells The Changeling, a Jacobean tragedy newly warped by the author of Unidentified Human Remains and the Nature of True Love. It was a meditation on the value of virginity, the allure of immorality and the power of dirty, shameful, old-fashioned sex.
